Absent No More

The Absence of Prophets Album (Cafepress version) revitalized by Soundmaster Daniel Koenen will be available online in a matter of days.

As of late, just taking an unwanted break from the decks as summer school seems to take most of my time. That goal of making some kind of mixtape/CD is still at hand, so expect to hear about that someday. I'm leaning towards a mix because I'm out of breath in terms of original stuff and I'm working on expanding my record collection anyhow. Kill two birds with one stone, right?

Some Other Major Updates

Cleaned up the look of some pages and updated the Radio section with a list of cool webcast radio stations I listen to that I want to share with you. Don't forget to check out The Absence of Prophets available online here on mangthomas.com!

The Absence of Prophets Downloadable

The wait is finally over! The 70MB zipped file is located here and will eventually be available on a silk-screened CD from Cafepress.com for $4.99 (No Prophets are made. That's CP's base price :). It's going to take me awhile until I get a CD Master going and sent to CP for distribution. So there's pretty much four ways you could get a copy:

1. Downloading straight from the .Mac File Share
2. Through my Cafepress Store (availability unknown)
3. Personally handed a burned copy from me :-)
4. Or on UCSB's underground filesharing network using DC++

I'm also waiting on approval from C|Net's Music Download service, where you'll hopefully find a couple of the safer downloadable tracks from The Absence... album. I'll keep you posted on what happens with that. The more exposure the better, I figure. Man, after nine months or so and this project's complete. I don't think I'm going to touch anything in regards to original music for awhile. I seriously want to expand my record collection but that's going to take some work (and money). Finals are approaching as well. Good luck to you college heads out there and keep listening to music!

Still Alive

Just working on new material to play with. Going through another cycle of acquiring samples and what not. Here's a little sample for you to check out! It's the Final Fantasy Prelude theme, remixed. Hope you enjoy.

Things Just Keep Gettin' Better

Mang Thomas has a blog! Oooh! You too could sign up for one through fLuP Blogs - a good service! So the website's News section has been upgraded and with the previous entry, you'll find the past News entries. Don't forget to bookmark this website so you could check out more up-to-date (and easy to post!) information and check out my music recommendations, top lists, and what have yous.

Feel free to sign the lowly guestbook that isn't quite getting much attention. I'd like to thank all the peeps who picked up a sample CD at the UCSB University Center throughout March and late-Feb! The new project album will be due soon.

[ 3.1.04 ] - [ the absence of prophets nearly complete ]
It's pretty much done. All I need to work with is the final mixing and the one track featuring Silent E on the mic. Already bought the materials for the album case and currently working up some cover ideas. Been thinking about restarting Eat Your Beats with a fresh new outline and style but more on that later. The installation at the UCSB UCen is still up so check it out if you haven't had a chance to.

[ 2.13.04 ] - [ ucsb ucen showcase ]
If you happen to be at the University of California Santa Barbara, check out the photography of two awesome ladies as well as a sample of The Absence of Prophets. The "interactive installation" will accompany three photographs. People are encouraged to take a CD and hopefully I'll be making frequent trips to be refilling the stack! Check it out now! Well, if you could that is...

[ 1.17.04 ] - [ a slight hold ]
I'm sad to announce that I'm taking a temporary break on the Eat Your Beats radio. It appears my school schedule this quarter isn't as forgiving as the previous. For me, I feel the importance of advertising yet I haven't had the time and money to dedicate to EYB - although I'd love to in the future if I ever get to it. For right now, it's learning more music, working on solo projects, and possibly hooking up with collaborators and come out with something that way. Basically, I'm taking this whole thing and focusing on the "here" more than "there" if that makes sense in some odd way. Sorry for the bad news, but I'll keep you posted on other non-EYB stuff. Nighty night, 'Beats. Have a good rest.

[ 1.6.04 ] - [ a preview that needs some saving ]
A preview track is available for download here for the upcoming project: Music, and Other Things Worth Saving. As you might have picked up on, since there's no set "deadline" for this project I'm taking my sweet time on it, making sure it's how I want it to be without any problems. It still is all a learning experience and I figured the only way to get better is to set myself up with challenges. We'll see how this goes and I'll definately keep you posted. Enjoy the preview!

[ 1.1.04 ] - [ back in the biz (part II) ]
It's a new year! Where have I been??? Let's welcome 2004 with open arms. Hopefully this year will promise more creative oppurtunities for yours truly, but I guess the only thing to do is wait and see! As some of you people may know, Eat Your Beats is on its second year of broadcast and back for another quarter. A new site design is in the works for right now, trying to settle on something. Major thanks to Jason Ting of Phase Four Productions for getting me started on the initial phase (not quite the fourth. nyuk nyuk :). Same mang time, same mang channel. Tune in and listen up!

[ 9.19.03 ] - [ back in the biz ]
It's time for school again! We all know what that means. Eat Your Beats: Year Two will be starting in just a few! This time around, it's once a week with an hour and a half of non-structured listening pleasure. Just did a couple of major updates around the site, mainly the AIH section. Keep your earlids peeled for Eat Your Beats!

[ 8.6.03 ] - [ dog days of summer ]
Hello all! Hope you're having a grand summer, I know I am! As you may have found out, EYB hasn't been on air for awhile - I'm taking my own little vacation from radio DJing. However, I've kept myself busy with Art is Hard and just more practice, practice, practice! Collecting more rad music here and there for both yours and my listening pleasure. As far as scheduling goes, things will change as far as when the show is played and what types of shows (I'm thinking about doing live mix sessions :-). So stay tuned for more info later! Oh yeah, and join the mailing list so it's easier to keep in touch!!!!
